He chose green when he ran for office, coincidence?

April 15, 2009   Governor Martin O'Malley together with Senate President Miller and Speaker Busch foisted upon Maryland's Employees an act of political thievery.

This trio rammed through the companion bills SB264 and HB298 that picked up the name, "Fair Share Act." This act changes State Personal and Pensions article 3-502 which currently reads, "Collective bargaining may not include negotiations relating to the right of an employee organization to receive service fees from nonmembers."

However as of July 1, 2009 3-502 will read, "Except as provided in pararaph (2) of this section, collective bargaining may include negotiations relating to the right of an employee organization to receive service fees from nonmembers.

AFSCME is expected to receive an additional $7.5 million annually. This means that each of the approximately 20,500 employees that do not belong to AFSCME will have $400 involuntarily deducted from their paycheck each year.
